It’s Normal To Feel Overwhelmed During Challenging Situations
Sudden outbreaks, such as COVID-19, can cause strong emotions for many people. Any underlying anxiety and depression you’ve been dealing with may worsen. Isolation could cause feelings of loneliness that increase stress levels, and too much togetherness might cause you to feel trapped. Communication patterns can be affected due to the demands of trying to preserve normalcy in the household. You may need extra support to protect your children’s emotional well-being to help them cope with this unexpected life change.
It’s normal to worry about maintaining job security during this crisis which may also be causing you to feel uncertain about your future. All this emotional weight may be causing you to feel overwhelmed and exhausted.
Fortunately, you don’t have to go through this difficult time alone. Virtual counseling can offer you the opportunity to access someone you trust who can help instill hope within yourself. Online therapy is also a great option that allows you to communicate and see a friendly face when you are homebound or are unable to connect with people directly. It can help you feel engaged, less lonely, and supported – all without leaving the comfort of your home.
With virtual or phone therapy, you can gain a greater sense of self-awareness that will promote positive thinking, reduce stress, anxiety, or depression, and create healthier relationships that will enhance your life.
You Can Have The Support You Need With Teletherapy
Online counseling is a convenient resource that can help you find emotional healing and empowerment through self-exploration. It allows you to reach out from a personal space of safety and connect with the outside world to gain the tools you needed to cope with the situations that are causing you fear or anxiety.
My goal during our virtual therapy sessions will be to help you develop a more complete understanding of yourself so that you can process complex emotions, understand why they occur, and learn how to manage them.
My approach to therapy centers on building a relationship with you so that you feel comfortable sharing the deepest parts of yourself. I offer my clients a safe, warm, and non-judgmental environment to facilitate the creation of positive perspectives and growth. I encourage you to create a distraction-free therapy space that allows you to contribute freely without the fear of being overheard by others.
This is an important time to take advantage of what technology has to offer by utilizing the accessibility of teletherapy to help you cope with difficult challenges. Phone or online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy, especially if you’re not able to leave your home. You can do it anywhere you choose, and you can fit it into your busy schedule if you live at a distance or are overloaded at work. And we can still maintain the same therapeutic relationship as if we were meeting at the office. You also have the choice to switch from online counseling to in-person sessions when you choose to.
I’ve been practicing for over 25 years in various organizations throughout the New York area. I have worked with law enforcement agencies, hospitals, victim’s units, public schools, and organizations that specialized in trauma after the 9/11 attacks. During my years of practice, I’ve helped my clients gain the self-awareness they need to listen to their inner selves in a way that nurtures and welcomes all parts of themselves and what each part may be trying to teach them. With my help, you too can develop a profound awareness that will enable you to access a healingplace within that will bring forth balance and peace into your life.
You may still have questions or concerns about teletherapy…
How effective is online therapy?
If long commute times, scheduling conflicts, or personal reasons make it difficult or impossible to attend in-person counseling, talking to a therapist online might be right for you. It can provide you with the support to get through troubled times just as effectively as in-person sessions. Someof my clients say they prefer phone therapy because it removes their fear of commuting out of their homes and neighborhoods. Teletherapy services are also available for individuals who are outside the NY area. If you’re ready to embrace positive change in your life, I’m here to help.
I have privacy concerns.
I use HIPAA compliant platforms bound by local and federal laws to ensure your safety and peace of mind. I take privacy seriously so that you have the confidence to be able to share what you want. On your end, all you have to do is find a quiet and safe place that will give you the freedom to share your thoughts and feelings.
Will online counseling be covered by insurance?
I offer my clients a free, 45 to 50-minute session to determine if we’re a good fit. You will not be charged for the session if you don’t wish to continue further. I’m an out-of-network provider, however, I work with the Healthfirst Medicaid Program. Upon request, I can provide an invoice at the end of the month for insurance reimbursement. All pertinent information is provided for invoicing.
